This year’s Recovery Community Network (RCN) Annual Banquet was nothing short of extraordinary! Held at the River’s Edge Convention Center, the event brought together community members, partners, and supporters to honor the progress and resilience of individuals in recovery while celebrating our collective achievements over the past year.
Here’s a look at the unforgettable moments and impact of the evening:
A Night to Remember
The evening began with a warm social hour, where attendees connected, shared stories, and built new friendships. Dinner was accompanied by an inspiring keynote address from Don Shelby, a celebrated journalist and advocate for mental health and recovery. His heartfelt message reminded us of the power of community and the importance of supporting all pathways to recovery.
Celebrating Impact
Our banquet provided the perfect platform to showcase RCN’s 2024 impact numbers. From expanding office hours and staff to increasing outreach and harm reduction efforts, our work this year has touched countless lives. Some highlights include:
284 peers supported weekly through Telephonic Recovery Support (TRS), a significant increase from last year.
Hosting 1,564 one-on-one recovery coaching sessions, empowering 111 peers on their recovery journey.
Providing over $25,000 in financial assistance through Good Samaritan Grants and Peer Emergency Assistance.
Facilitating space for 10 weekly recovery meetings, including a Spanish-speaking AA group, ensuring inclusivity for all pathways to recovery.
These accomplishments reflect the dedication of our team and the support of the community in making recovery accessible for everyone.
Recognizing Community Heroes
The banquet also included a special awards segment where we honored individuals and organizations who have gone above and beyond to advance recovery in our community. These honorees exemplify the spirit of resilience and collaboration that defines RCN’s mission.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrated our successes, we also looked forward to the future. The funds raised at this year’s banquet will help us expand our programs, launch new initiatives, and continue to provide life-saving resources and peer support to those in need.
