Founded in 2014, the RCN's initial mission was to host monthly meetings for sharing information about recovery events, training, and opportunities.
Initial Partner organizations included CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital, Minnesota Recovery Connection, St. Cloud State University Recovery Community, Easthaven Men's Sober Living Facility, St. Cloud Intergroup (A.A.), and Goodwill Easter Seals.
Key Milestones:
2014-2016: Began monthly meetings and created a Facebook page (2016).
2017: Hosted a World Café Community Convening with over 50 participants.
2018-2019: Held the first and second Recovery Coach Academies at St. Cloud State University, training numerous participants to become certified Peer Recovery Specialists.
2019: Registered as a nonprofit and secured funding from the Department of Human Services to operate in Central Minnesota.
Notable Activities (2020):
*Hosted the first RCN Sober New Year’s Eve Celebration.
*Conducted training for leaders in the faith community.
*Transitioned services online (TORS program) in response to COVID-19.
*Launched a website, grew their mailing list to over 1,400, and collaborated with local and federal
representatives.
*Achieved Recovery Community Organization status from ARCO and organized Central Minnesota's first
*Walk for Recovery and Banquet for Recovery.
Other Highlights:
*Hosted various recovery-focused events, meetings with law enforcement, and celebrations for National
Recovery Month.
*Continued expanding their community through training, networking, and advocacy.
